Full Day Sucre - Chataquila - Inca Trail with Potolo o Maragua

Tour Description

Departure towards the northeast of the Sucre city to Chataquila (a church built of stone), from this point begins the Inca Trail (prehispanic path) that last about 2 hours and half, a paved trail of 4.5 km, built by ancient pre-Hispanic inhabitants by which they transported their products in llamas. Going down from the top of the mountains to the Chataquila Chaunaca you can see a wonderful landscape of the Cordillera de Los Frailes, it can also see the crater of Maragua and mountains in the area, and native flora of the region.

After the Inca trail visit to Maragua or Potolo, indigenous communities of the Jalq'a culture. These communities of the ethnic group Jalq'a, preserve some features such as agricultural techniques and mainly in manual textile production that is truly unique.

Potolo village is a small indigenous community where women weave the well-known Jalq'a textiles. Visit to the peasant houses and looks a bit the daily life in the region. (1 hour from Chaunaca).

Maragua is a smaller community, from where you can see up close the crater of the same name and visit rural homes where the weavers produce their magnificent textile art. (35 minutes from Chaunaca).

This tour starts at 08:00 am. Return to Sucre in the late afternoon.
